A day in the studio

Yesterday was quite a productive day in the studio! Some paintings of mountains and flowers were made into patterns and transferred onto a lovely linen via the digital printer.

I also exposed some new screens and hand printed some two tone floral fabrics on a linen mix. The linen was dyed with Kenanthrol Intense Black.

Below are a few photos of them - excuse all the edges, they'd come straight out of the steamer!

Paintings inspired by mountains

Looking at some paintings that will form a part of my final collection. These paintings are based on mountain scenes in areas of India, including Bhutan and Pakistan. These paintings were initially inspired by The Valley of Flowers in the Himalayas.

Below is an image of my fabric and wallpaper sitting alongside each other. The fabric is the first painterly fabric I produced which is inspiring the above forming collection.

Looking to the mountains...

To start this post off, I'm proud to say that I achieved a First for my last module!

Now that I have started the final module of my degree, its time to start painting and drawing again!

After reviewing my last project (previous post), I decided to do much more painting of the mountains of India and other similar regions. I'm really trying to focus on the really colourful scenes, but also looking to the textures in the mountains for inspiration too.

Since this is my last ever module, I will be closely documenting my progress throughout this term, starting off with these initial paintings of mountain scenes. I will most likely take some details out of them to create patterns. But for now, I will continue painting!
